The European Union's dominant politically correct hypocrisy remains silent on the issue that is undermining the rule of law in Romania said the liberal MEP Andreas Mölzer. "Romania's post-communist Prime Minister Victor Ponta has occupied important posts such as the People's Advocate with red minions, and curtails the powers of the Constitutional Court. More alarmingly, no word of criticism has been heard from the ranks of the European left" said Mölzer.
Mölzer also stated that the case of Hungary was totally different. "Hungary's right-wing Conservative Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in contrast to his Romanian counterpart Ponta, has been equipped with a two-thirds majority and has now stepped forward to implement reforms promised during the election campaign.
The silence of the left to let the events in Romania which echo the infringement of European values is a disgrace. According to the liberal MEP, this silence can only lead to one conclusion: "When it comes to one of their own, the much vaunted European values appear to play no role."concluded Mölzer.
